Another potential 'innocent' saves the taxpayer a lot of money.

I thought the same too Zhukov. What is it with all these murder suspects shuffling off this mortal coil on a Friday?

Yes DT, he'd be begging for extradition after a week!

Stop it douglas, you'll have the bed-wetting hand-wringers on here in a minute.....
are they now providing beams and ropes in cells? I thought these days that they could prevent hangings in cells, how difficult would it be to not have anything to hang from?
Actuallly, under English law, noe-one is a 'potential innocent' - they are only potentially guilty - a small distinction, but the entire edifice of our legal systom pivots on it, so it is important to keep it in mind.

Thanks Philtaz, but i still don't see your point.

Can you appreciate my difficulty and explain a little more fully what you are saying, because i appear to be missing it. Thanks.

My point Andy is that I'm amazed at the amount of 'innocent' people who kill themselves in prison. It's more a follow-on (and tongue in cheek reference) to a thread we discussed last week.

It's more the links in some of the answers that are relevant, not the posts themselves.
Thanks for the explanation Philtaz.

I obviously see this differently - of the two scenarios - an innocent person who cannot cope with their situation and dies, and a guilty person who is 'cutting to the chase ...' - I find the former fare more likely.
Surely an innocent person would at least put their trust in a jury first Andy?
Perhaps a guilty one may chose the option this one did.
I thought the custody officer was supposed to remove anything which the prisoner could use to affect suicide?
They can do it with bed sheets and clothes.
