We hear much about the advantages of immigration, into this country.

But do disadvantages such as these, overweight the advantages?

It also doesn't give the crimes.
note the words "accused" and "suspects". Don't they have actual figures?
OP did you mean outweigh rather than //overweight//?
On balance, 2500 crimes said to have been committed by Irish people seems a small price to pay for the proliferation of Irish pubs.
that's so, sandyRoe, it's only about one crime for every 500 bad Irish jokes.
From the Mail in Jan 2011 "More than one in three people living in London were born outside Britain, an official analysis showed yesterday." If they are guilty of only 25% of the crimes then they are less criminally-minded than the folk born here.

149,126

/// From September 2010 to August 31 last year, the Met proceeded against 195,714 alleged criminals. Of those, 46,588 were foreign nationals – or 24 per cent of the total. The remaining 149,126 individuals were British. ///

Quite right, I had to rush to submit it, before I had checked it over.
"We hear much about the advantages of immigration, into this country."

I would submit that the opposite is true.

Try typing the following words into the search box on the Mail, Telegraph, Express or Sun websites.

Muslim
Immigrant
Asylum seeker
Influx
Polish
East European
Latvian

The results will show that we actually hear more of the DISadvantages of immigration, than the advantages!
The Daily Mail has been a bit naughty here. The headline states that Eastern Europeans are responsible for a quarter of all crimes in London. However further down the piece, it eqivocates on those figures by stating that these were the people 'proceeded against' rather than found guilty.

Also, something else to take into consideration (and here's where I'm relying on my 'O' Level in maths), but the laws of distribution and probability mean that just because 25% of all crimes are carried out by Eastern Europeans in London, doesn't mean that the criminal element of those nationalities is higher than the British.

It could easily mean that there are a small number of very prolific criminals who are have been repeatedly arrested.

The simplest way to counteract his is to draft and implement a law that states, "free movement within the EC nations, but each country has the right to refuse entry to anyone with a criminal record.

By 'criminal record' I don't me drink and disorderly or anything minor. From burglary upwards I'd say. And it would depend on how long ago the crime was committed. I wouldn't bar a 45 year old professional who had been fined whilst in college for having a bag of weed for instance...

I did as you suggested SP, and these are the first three, that came up under Muslim.

/// Muslim wives of Michigan: US network creates 'All American Muslim' reality TV show ///

/// The program will follow five Muslim families in Dearborn, Michigan hoping to expose the 'misconceptions and conflicts' they face 'outside and within' their own community'.///

/// Muslim woman banned from wearing a 'burkini' in a French swimming pool ///

/// The Burkini swimsuit - designed to spare the blushes of Muslim women worldwide - was plunged into controversy yesterday. ///

/// Muslim fanatic prisoners to be 'de-programmed' using controversial techniques to 'cure' them of beliefs ///

/// Psychologists in the Prison Service will try to ‘cure’ extremist Muslim inmates of their political beliefs with controversial 'de-programming' therapies used on religious cults. ///

Funny enough, the Muslim swimsuit one was a question on the BBC 2 daytime quiz show, 'Perfection'.

The contestant had to enter true or false to this statement, "A swimsuit preferred by Muslim women is called a burkini", he got it wrong by saying it was false.
I was about to suggest you click on the 'most recent' button, but strangely, story number two is about Raine Spencer's relationship with Princess Diana, and the third story is about Paul McCartney giving up smoking weed.

Genuinely perplexed.
However, it DOES work, if you submit the word 'immigrant' ten sort by 'most recent'.
