I'd love to be able to play a musical instrument, maybe the violin, that idea came from when I was 22 living in Barcelona, we went to Parc Guell for a walk and found out it was Gaudi's birthday so there was all kinds going on, one of the 'acts' was in the forest a bit, there were pillows hanging from trees on elastic for visitors to sit on while a man leaning against a vertical bed played the violin, it was the most beautiful, relaxing feeling ever!
I play the piano. I reckon it's most useful instrument to play and, if you succeed in getting a tune out of it, it can be most entertaining! I'm college trained, so I've been able to try my hand at quite a number of different genres -Pop, Classical and even Pub Piano. Yeh, I can heartily recommend the good old Piano!
I've tried all four, and as with everything else in my life, I can achieve a reasonable standard but apparently they are yet more things I don't excel at.
And in any case I think I'd prefer to be able to think at genius level more. Or be able to perform memory feats rather than forget everything all the time. Or even be at ultimate ease with social skills maybe. Just so much I'd like to be brilliant at but it seems it's not to be. (Oh yes, and an ability to avoid all typos and have perfect grammar.)
I have written a song for my wife & had music put to it / my brother that Died in OZ no music as yet, I write Lyrics & play my Tyros Yamaha keyboard, & also sing.
I think I'd like to paint... which is a bit silly since it's the one option you can actually learn to do. (You can learn a musical instrument too, but I think at my age stiffening joints and slowing reflexes make it a waste of time.) Singing and dancing require some sort of innate talent to do it properly, which I don't think I have. But it's painting I'd really like to do.
jno off to the local art shop for a pad some watercolours and some brushes... have a go no one needs to know but you or a beginners adult education class can be fun
thanks, TWR, but the process of actual learning requires mental and physical dexterity that I no longer have. I'm lucky I learnt 10-finger typing when I was younger, I probably couldn't now; but I'm slower and more mistake-prone than I used to be.
