see the thread a few posts down :- the title is
Should we hold a fuel demonstration ?
Because the last one achieved zilch.
Because it's a waste of time. The oil companies and the Osboune/Cameron clique will just ignore protests. Equally they will sit-out a petrol-driver's strike. If you voted Cons or Lib-Dem you are now getting what you voted for. Same old Tories - bet they've got shares in oil companies.
No point. Protests ignored. Wind farms? Who wants them? Green Belt? Who wants to build on it? Etc.
Because the British have lost the ability to protest effectively and the last protest achieved absolutely nothing because as soon as the police said 'If you dont move we'll arrest you'- everyone moved, so what was the point in even turning up? People are too terrified of rocking their own little boat to do somthing bigger for the good of everyone, the police know that so they know protest in England will never be a big deal any longer. Imagine what would have happened if everyone, EVERYONE had stood their ground. See if the French Govt treat their citizens so flippantly- the French don't budge as easily.

Can't have it all ways, it is only a few months ago when some said "why are there only riots etc, when the Tories are in power"?
"If you voted Cons or Lib-Dem you are now getting what you voted for. Same old Tories "

so fuel prices/duty didnt increase under Labour then ?
There is an E-petition on the government web site about fuel prices and those that matter ignore it.

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/347
the next increase is a legacy of Mr Brown.......it could still yet be blocked - my bet is that GO wants to see if the price turns downwards into the summer and only use (a freeze) if Iran/Israel goes boom - or Iran gentting angsty in the Straits of Hormuz (or both).
