"so·ci·o·path/ˈsōsēōˌpaTH/

Noun:

A person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience."

That sounds like an awful lot of doctors to me......
Well you may well be correct Lazygun, but in my opinion the danger of Islamisation of the west has been taken lightly and is well under way.
Ummmm had this - sane and very disillusional. The question is whether anybody had any influence on brainwashing him into this terrible action, or to better understand what triggered him to think that it was permissible in Norwegian society to do such a thing, a society that is more open and accepting than, say, ours.

@Sqad - Its an opinion, but in my experience those who hold such views do so out of unjustified, irrational fear and /or xenophobia.

Even were such fear justified, it in no way justifies mass murder.

I get the impression that ,at least in Breiviks case and those members of the more extremist groups that express a similar opinion, such xenophobia stems less from fear and much more from an arrogant and unjustifiable sense of superiority derived from being white and part of a judeo-christian culture.

You are entitled to that opinion, as i am to mine.

You mention "irrational fear" and only time will be the judge of your adjective........if you are correct then my fears ARE irrational, but if I am correct then your comment is foolhardy, naive and pre-emptive.

Oh! dear.......we are being pompous here........I feel that you may well have missed the point here.
'we have had "hate preachers" on our streets saying how they want to kill the Queen, our prime Minister, policemen etc.'

apart from the hate preachers you are describing irish terrorists as well, not all terrorists are muslim by the way!!

Anyone who agrees with this murderer needs to seek mental help!!!
By the wa - this 'Islamification of Europe'...is it alongside the whitening of Australian or the Christianisation of Africa on the list dangerous cultural imperialism?

If we are to 'keep Islam out of Europe' are we going to clear out of the Gulf states? Are we going to stop arming one set of Muslims, aiding anf abetting the slaughter of the Shias (and vice versa, dependent on US foreign policy?)

Basically, are we going to stop politically meddling in the Middle East?
It's ridiculous to express any level of empathy for the man or imply any kind of apologist reasoning for his actions.
I think Breivik is perfectly sane, he holds extreme views and he is standing up for his right to be heard. I also agree that holding such extreme views does not justify mass murder. Raising Godwin's Law, to me he is like Hitler...the number was irrelevant, it was the point that he was putting across.

One death is irrelevant to him, it could have been 77 or 7700 etc. He cried at his manifesto video because he was 'proud' (Sky News). If he had any more cunning the 77 would have been 7 million. My sympathy lies with the victims and the families.
You may be right in that there are similarities between the two, the disdain for what he did, the holding of radical views, the difference being the ability to communicate.

If the trial unearths this, then we may have a better understanding of the mindset. Will it prevent other such natured attacks, I fear not, as this is such a rare way of thinking, one that could hit any country in the world and find them unprepared to handle it.
Mass murder cannot be condoned in anyway, especially if the victims are innocents, apparently they were killed because they where on a summer camp organised by the Labour Party, who in his mind were responsible for the mass immigration in Norway.

Given that his main concern was the rise of Islam, one must ask shouldn't he have aimed his violence at the politicians also Islam? Personally I would say neither, because how he went about it was wrong in the extreme, but as it as been said before there are similar problems in this country.

In reflection though, some on this site will openly state that they understand the Taliban's actions in Afghanistan, because foreigners have invaded their land (note: at their politicians request), but they are not prepared to understand the concerns of some of their own people regarding our 'invaders'.
Any country can only be subverted by another either by force, or by acceptance - and of these two, history shows that the latter is the far more successful method.

I think that the notion that we are in any way 'invaded' is an attitude borne from ignorance and fear.

We live here by an accident of birth only, this section of the planet does not 'belong' to its indiginous population - others are free to settle here if they wish, that does not make them 'invaders'.

AOG to suggest parallels between imigration by a small section of foreign people and the armed invasion of Irag and Afghanistan - regardless of which corrupt set of puppet politicians 'invited' is is a seriously shaky argument andf points more to your tendency to swerve any thread towards a Muslim slant, than to any logical thought process, or indeed historial analysis.
sane! throw away the key! x
