Do they want to kill toursim on a the alter of "renewable" energy sources? Surely the costs of wind power vastly outweigh the benefits anyway.

if i could have my genie's three wishes, one would be to rid Britain of all wind farms, the other two are left best unsaid.
Baldric, I'm sure some of my compatriots would miss the delicacy you refer to, but - given that I am diabetic - I myself find it easy to eschew the DFMB!

Re wind-farms as such, I'm not sure why the original push to develop wave-power sources seems to have virtually faded away, especially as we're surrounded by the blessed things...waves, that is.
Quite, QM. Two flows (one in each direction) each day, every day, regular as clockwork, predictable to the minute.

If ever one wanted to develop a daft, unreliable and extremely expensive way of (occasionally) generating electricity, wind power in the UK would be it. Unfortunately our politicians have been sucked into this ridiculous nonsense (mainly to enhance their “green” credentials). As a result of the funds wasted on it (provided by energy customers who are paying way over the odds for their supplies) the UK faces a severe and serious “energy gap” in a very few years time. Never mind, let’s build another few hundred wind turbines, that’ll solve it!
How much rent do you suppose the Scots will charge for Faslane?

I'm sure that'll balance the books
