I think several of the accused are 'family men', so I'm not sure that can be the reason. The only thing I can think of is that he's already under investigation for something else or even on trial, but that could be for anything - it doesn't have to be a similar offence.

incidentally, the youngest victim was 13 - that doesn't make you a paedophile (which is about sex with children). They're just rapists in my book.

Surely a person of 13 is still a child, why else are they entitled to Child Benefit?

Read all the reports on this case, and they are referred to as 'Child' sex grooming.

I wondered this. Could be he's related to one of the victims in some way - married her mum or whatever. That being the case it'd be done to preserve her identity rather than his.

Or, as others have suggested, he's on trial for something else and the jury wouldn't be allowed to know his previous form before passing their verdict.
