Would you believe it, government are now looking into possible changes to road tax due to loss of revenue because of low Co2 emissions means less tax to pay. Well they have to recoup somehow, don't they. Thats why they don't really want people to stop smoking because of revenue they get.

I had a feeling this would happen at some point.
I still have yet to hear a reasonable argument against scrapping it altogether and raising the revenue through the petrol pump.
If it is through the petrol pump payment of the duty is unavoidable - and even better - the more you drive the more you pay.

It matters not whether alcohol is banned, smoking is banned and all cars are electric. All those sitting with a smug look on their face if it happens will soon be changing their tune when they realise their taxes have jumped up and or they find they are paying to breathe air in the street.
If the government stop taking tax on one thing they have to find something else to tax. Some cannot seem to grasp this.
