Unsolved and all goes quiet
Are there any incidents that never seemed to get resolved (albeit some tragically) and you come to wander whether it every came out what happened and you missed it or does it still remain unresolved.
I was wondering the other day what happened to the chef from York who disappeared, Claudia I think her name was. I'm sure I heard a while ago the police had more leads but then it all seemed to go quiet again.
Similarly there was a young girl who disappeared on a cruise ship, I never heard if they ever found her or any clues as to what happened to her or why.
It must be awful for the families and friends too, to just not know.

There was an old man who answered the door in Furneux Pelham and was shot dead by someone using a gun with ancient ammunition, that wasn't made any more. The mystery was compounded by evidence that someone had phoned from a nearby phone box to report the incident and had given the former name of the village and, I think, the old name for the man's house. This was, presumably , the murderer. A man was arrested and charged but I haven't been able to find out what happened. It's as though no trial has ever taken place, yet this was some while ago.

Sad but try pdq. I often see things going on round the city but never find out what happened (like knowing if someone was ok or local things) unless it's deemed newsworthy which, in a city with all sorts of things going on, is unfortunately the more awful or scandalous things.
There was an incident on the small street where I lived some years back, someone stabbed a young woman numerous times completely randomly with two knives in broad daylight. There was a large crime scene, area sealed off for some time, mobile police fan, police coming round speaking to people in the street and taking samples, even a Crimewatch reconstruction and appeal on the programme, but never heard if they ever caught the man who did it.

I remember the Claudia case. Her reputation was discredited due to her private life. I don`t think the press helped in that situation. That seemed to invalidate the public interest in the case.
There will always be high-profile cases where evidence and leads dry up and things go quiet. I remember, as a child, hearing about Genette Tate who disappeared in Devon. I always wondered what happened to her. Her murderer obviously got away with it (if he isn`t banged up for something else).

Hello, 237SJ. Genette Tate is remembered every August by our local newspaper in Exeter. A man called Black doing life for several child murders was a delivery driver who was known, by petrol receipts, to have been in the Aylesbeare lane from which the 13 year old vanished, leaving her bike with the wheels still spinning when her friends found it.
I often wonder about a case that dominated the news back in the l960s or early l970s. I think the name was Desramault. The French father managed to secrete out of the country his estranged wife`s adored baby son, and mocked her, claiming she would never see him again, and because he had evaded the customs people, probably succeeded. Anyone know what happened?
