I thought the reason our troops were out in Afghanistan fighting and loosing their lives, so that we could keep the streets of the UK safe from terrorism.

How can this possibly be when an ex-member of the Taliban is free to walk the streets of Britain?

What's stopping other Taliban members following his example?

These wise and humane decisions of the tribunal are something the English people can be rightly proud of.
The lunatics are running the Asylum
Intriguing. What did we do with enemy soldiers, seamen, and airmen who deserted in the World Wars and other conflicts? There surely must have been some, and they would rightly argue that would be shot as deserters if returned, yet they were involved in killing our soldiers and civilians.

Of course, they might not have embraced the belief , and continued to hold it, that they were following divine guidance in killing us !

Not quite understanding what you are saying, but if I am correct in assuming what you say, they would have obviously surrendered on the field of battle, this being so they would have ended up in a POW camp until the end of hostilities, and then sent home.
seems to me that its his claim he realised innocents were being killed so he fled ...if this is true then his life would be in danger.... im not saying i agree with him being allowed to stay here but thats the rules...if you can prove your life is in danger then more often than not they will be allowed to stay.

when i was born there was a german man lived next door... he had been a pow in this country (i dont know all the facts but he didnt want to go back to germany as he didnt believe in what he had had to for his country, but it was common knowledge he had killed british people, though i didnt know this until i was older obviously) he stayed and was here til he died... i guess this is similar story. He was actually a lovely man and i was always round his house until we moved to a different area.

I find the fact that he joined the taliban voluntarily rather than being forced to fight should have been a big point in deciding whether he could stay here. But who knows what anyone would do if their father or family were killed by people....maybe a lot of people would join a group or army to avenge their deaths?

*What's stopping other Taliban members following his example? *

no idea, i guess the majority of them would rather stay where they are and continue fighting their so called cause for Islam <<< i hate that... killing innocent people is not allowed!
Precisely, aog. This man is not in the position of having killed for his country. He has killed for a faction within that country.. freturning him to the country is not returning him to the faction..He is, presumably, not bearing any mark that singles him out as a former or present enemy of the rest of the people, if indeed, they would regard him as such or be minded to kill him. And treating him as if he were a prisoner of war, in a 'war' , a 'civil war' or insurrection, without end, is clearly impractical.

I do not presently see the compelling argument for allowing him to remain.
it doesnt matter if he killed for his country or for factions within it fred... if his life is in danger then thats what 'matters'.... again im not agreeing or condoning any of it just saying how it is. I know people personally who have been allowed to stay here because of disputes among tribes where their life is in danger if they return.... one tribe member will kill someone from another tribe, someone in that tribal family retaliates and kills someone from the other tribe and eventually all hell breaks loose and any family member is fair game.... it is hard for them to hide as some tribes are huge and all over the place.... then there are political groups that may have marked them for death too..... barbaric but happens
sorry my point got lost there im terrible trying to explain

if people are in danger from tribal feuds to the extent they cannot go back because they would not be able to hide from them then it would be nigh on impossible to hide from such as the taliban..

These two passages from the reports beggar belief.

/// Ahmadzai arrived in Britain illegally in May 2010 after travelling from Afghanistan in lorries. ///

How can a person escape from a war zone in a lorry and then travel all the way across Europe and finally enter Britain (which is after all an island) and then settle at an address until he is finally found out?

/// He alleges that shortly afterwards he fled the country but cannot return because his life would be in danger from both the Taliban and the Afghan National Security Forces, who oppose the Islamic extremist group. ///

Excuse me but don't we also oppose Islamic extremists groups?

If this is so, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, and obviously we cannot make him fear for his life, the least we can do is to lock him up until such times when we can get rid of him.

This person should defiantly not be free to settle here and perhaps go on to breed children, when then it would be impossible to get rid of him under the 'Right to a family life' ruling.
Couldnt care one jot what happens to him if sent back to afcrapistan.

he is here illegally, he is of no use to us , he is a danger

Get rid of ASAP, his future, his problem, not ours

i hate to say this aog but if they have the money then apparently its relatively easy. From what ive been told and i know quite a few asylum seekers (genuine ones and ones who i would bet my next years money are full of crap, though not all from war zones, but that doesnt make a difference) its the getting from france to here that is the hardest bit... Im going from memory reading the link earlier but didnt it say he was here just 2 days before being found out? from the stories ive heard that is actually pretty unlucky.... not that i care one bit what happens to him
stick him in the back of a lorry going back to where he came from, no problems.
Free house and everything else...that really p***'s me off when he could have been been responsible for the deaths of our soldiers.
Reminds you of Rudolph Hess. Except he was imprisoned for life after the war ended.
has anyone read about the wooden horse of Troy?
