/// Mr Cameron did not rule out some sort of vote on European issues eventually, but insisted that he would not give the British people the option of leaving the EU outright. ///
Well it looks as if 'Mr Chubby Chops' will not give us a straight 'YES' 'NO' referendum, what's the betting the next thing he will be getting us in to, yes the Euro.
I wonder what these future European issues that he will be giving us a vote on, might be?

Cameron was never the choice of the discerning Tory for leader; an uneasy peace was kept in order to dislodge the previous Labour government. The coalition with the Liberals is even less popular within the Tory party than it is with the country at large. For the moment his "loyal" colleagues are keeping their powder dry, but I do not see Cameron being PM in four years' time; he will be swept away in the deluge which drowns the Liberals and those who have been biding their time (Hague, Davis, Johnson et al) will come to the fore.
Do not forget that amongst MPs Cameron lost the election to David Davis. It was basically the constituency tea party clubs which ensured his victory. In the good old days the Tories never elected a leader; the men in grey suits picked one and the electorate could deliver its verdict at the proper time. I don't remember us being less well governed for all that.
I was dreading this issue, Cameron can't give a straight answer. I don't know why he can't acknowledge the vox populi. There must be more to this issue than we have been told. What is so difficult in telling Merckel and co, that we want out. It is a very dead parrot. Finis. It seems easy to say too many British jobs depend on Europe, where are the jobs. It seems the Poles, Eastern Europeans and Asians are taking ours. Thanks to our immigration effort.
