Ok we are never going to stop it completely but this article has some good news. Will theiving lowlives just move on to other crime?

in the link I dont understand how the man who stole the laptop wasnt prosecuted for receiving stolen goods on a lack of evidence. The anti-theft software provided all the evidence required.

Yes I wondered that, too!
seems exasperating. The technology is their but the courts wont use it to full effect. Its the same with privately gained CCTV footage -no matter how damning it can get chucked out of court on a technicality.

The Court Services seem to have a real problem with any evidence not gathered by the police force.
Unfortunately they have to feed the drug habit somehow so muggings for cash will probably be on the rise.

He was probably not procesuted in case it violated his 'ooman rights.
The person has to know or believe the goods were stolen

I note he was a taxi driver - If he told the police someone left it in his cab it might be rather difficult to prove othrewise don't you think?
