Question arising from a chat with a pal recently ...

You're invited to a party at 8.00pm

Do you turn up at 8 and get the party started?

Or do you turn up later, hoping that other people will have created some atmosphere, so you can just join in and take advantage?

Go later when the kids are in bed
Half 8 would be the earliest I would arrive. I hate being the first there!
I'd just be delighted to go to a party these days.
Depends if there are likely to be decent nibbles ... or even indecent ones ;+)
I think Erin and I would be arriving together!! Hate to be first, like to sneak
in quietly.
It's tricky sneaking in when you're my size ...

Isn't it easier to be there early, and not have to walk into a room of chattering groups?
SD.....if your going as your yellow elephant...then yes I suppose it is! ;o)
no JJ...I can wander unnoticed and then join a group..
Me too... Noone notices after the party is in full swing anyway!
go later and slide in unnoticed with any luck.
It depends who is giving the party.

Good point, marval.

For a close pal, you're going to want to be there for a few "pre party liveners".
I turn up later and hopefully, like Lady Janine, unnoticed.
Yes, for a close pal I would turn up early, for someone I didn't know as well maybe a bit later.
Can't even remember the last time I was asked to a party.
Depends whos party it is....830 usually xxx
It depends if it was one of 'those sort of parties' then would want to get started right away. You can not have too much of an atmosphere in a party, can you?
