// Some 39 babies were given the name Fenton, the name of a runaway dog which featured in a viral Youtube clip late last year.
The mini surge took the name up more than 200 places in the rankings from 996 to 781. //

Other high movers include Jensen (as in Button) and characters from the Twight films (Bella and Jacob I think).

Any other recent additions you have heard of?

News? now come on Gromit don't you think this thread would be more at home in ChatterBank?
the Times runs a survey of popular names every year and is still a newspaper, I think.

Maybe there will be lots of little boys named Mo next year, and lots of lilttle girls named Farah (like Fawcett-Major).
Already lots of little boys called Mo(hammed) jno!! I wonder if people will realise that this is what Mo is short for when they name their sons!!!

Bella features prominently in that story. Could that be a belated tribute to Bella Emberg?
No big surge in "Boris" then?
Though I'd bet there'll be a surge in Sebastians next may
When boys start being called Christian then i will worry......
are there many Usains about? Or is it just a sneaky form of Hussein?
Question Author

Sadly, there are girls about to hit high scool saddled with being called Fallon, after the Dynasty character, although I don't think Alexis was that hip.

I always recount the time my youngest was in hospital, and I was listening to the mother of the little one in the next bed - this was twenty-three years ago.

She told her companion - "i wanted the christen her Dallas Ewing but the vicar refused, so i named her Joan Rachel instead, so I can call her JR ..."

Scary isn't it!
i wonder if anyone will have the idea of calling their child 'wenlock'
'Stratford', surely excel
or Stoke Mandy
There was a footballer called Mark Stein and headlines were made when a local couple named their little boy Stein after the Stoke player.

The following season Stoke sold him!
My name will never appear in a survey of popular names. I've never met another me in human form but a dog and a horse do share my name :-)
Eccles, that prompts an idea for a thread!!!
Go for it girl :-D
Shergar?
Aha - eccles exposed as "Shergar Cake"
Incidentally, my name is the same as 3 people in the world and one World War II minesweeper!
