Why have the latest Euro lottery winners gone public?
Why would you? You leave yourself open to jealous abuse from all kinds of nut cases, not to mention begging letters. Also what about the bullying at school and the kidnap threat of their young children? At least if you kept it quiet you would have time to think things through and probably move before word did get out.

I don't think you could rely on anyone further from immediate family knowing and what a burden you place on others in the know. I wouldn't like to go public though...can imagine the fall out, but at least like the couple who won the 161 million, I would be giving millions away to charity too.
Might have to get a super injunction against the world at large, and pursue anyone who revealed, or offered reward for revealing, my identity! And if you do say to someone 'Can you keep a secrete?' it's obvious that you can't.
But, if it does get revealed by one or more, that's surely better than telling the world on TV and in all the papers. A friend used to tell his daughter that, if the Revenue or anyone came asking where she got her diamonds or other expensive things from, 'Say you have a rich, married, loverl' Not sure that that would work for me.

I'd hate to go public but agree that its inevitable. Therefore it would be better to go about it in a controlled manner with a team of PR people around you rather than wait for the press and media to start harassing you and your family on the doorstep. Which they would do within a couple of days of the win anyway.
