One couldn't make this up, or have they?

/// Anybody found not to be entitled to claim benefits will have their payments stopped, while dubious cases will have payments suspended. Those found to be illegally in the country are likely to face action to remove them from Britain. Letters will go out in two “tranches” - next month and October. ///

/// Ministers considered sending some in November but decided not to because this could mean people having their benefits removed “just prior to Christmas.” ///

Now there's British tolerance for you, even if most of them don't celebrate Christmas.

"Anybody found not to be entitled to claim benefits..." So says one part of the Telegraph article. Well, forgive my cynicism, but why in the name of all that's British are these people allowed to claim in the first beepin' place???

You know I sometimes wish I was also an asylum seeker here - at least I wouldn't have spent my life having had to pay through the nose in taxes!!!
I'd just get it all handed to me on a plate instead!
^^ And people wonder why those working hard for a living get a bit miffed. Really, it's no wonder at all, is it?
Stopping benefits and kicking them out is one good thing. Just stopping benefits and not kicking them out raises other problems. With no money coming in, expect a rise in crime.

/// anotheoldgit you originally said that more than half of the migrants claiming benefits did not celebrate Christmas and then you accuse others of implying you are racist, I wonder why that is? ///

I'd also like to know why that is, I don't see anything racist in the statement whatsoever, just a statement of fact that a lot of migrant benefit scroungers don't celebrate Christmas

Thank you baz for pointing that out, I was also amazed at how some will unintelligently use the 'racist' word on any occasion they choose, independent of whether or not it makes sense to do so.

I will be saving THECORBYLOON's ridiculous accusation of racism for future use.
"I'd also like to know why that is, I don't see anything racist in the statement whatsoever, just a statement of fact that a lot of migrant benefit scroungers don't celebrate Christmas "

Firstly, you said most[migrants] don't celebrate Christmas implying they are not Christian and now you are calling them benefit scroungers.

The DWP is checking on some claimants to confirm their entilement and those who are not claiming legally will rightly have their benefit stopped.

Claim forms do ask for a claimant's relgion and yet you state most migrants do not celebrate Christmas based not nothing apart from bias. You call them scroungers based on nothing but bias.

“I will be saving THECORBYLOON's ridiculous accusation of racism for future use.”

I have quoted this post from anotheoldgit previously but I will do so again.

“sp also says “How dare anyone dispute his Englishness” well I’m afraid to say I must dispute that fact, he may be British but he is not English, just the same as a white person of English parents, born in Mumbai would not be Indian, or likewise a white person born in Kingston would also not be Jamaican, Chris Eubank tried to take himself off as the perfect English gent, by dressing as the stereotype Englishman but that also did not make him English..”

Use my "ridiculous accusation" as you want, I am not worried in the least

You have not only FALSELY accused me of being a racist but you have now FALSELY accused me twice in these two statements of calling the migrants 'SCROUNGERS'

You are now making yourself even more ridiculous by not getting your facts right.
I have mis-read the post in which I had not noticed that the "scrounger" was made by bazwillrun and I withdraw my comment with regards to that.

The remaining comments are appropriate so can you justify a statement that a person's nationality is based upon the colour of their skin and the fact that it differs from the majority of their fellow citizens prevents them being English, Jamaican or Indian?
pisses me off that they pay benefits early at christmas and yet employers maybe don't and so people on benefit can blow their early payment on whatever whereas some workers have to wait til new year
" that a person's nationality is based upon the colour of their skin and the fact that it differs from the majority of their fellow citizens prevents them being English, Jamaican or Indian? "

are you on medication or something....who mentioned skin colour and where ?
"are you on medication or something....who mentioned skin colour and where ? "

I posted a comment from anotheoldgit in another thread in which he said

"white person of English parents, born in Mumbai would not be Indian, or likewise a white person born in Kingston would also not be Jamaican"

THECORBYLOON

Agree once again with Baz, who mentioned 'Colour'?

But if this helps please read on.

/// Many recent migrants to England have assumed a solely British identity, while others have developed dual or hyphenated identities.Use of the word "English" to describe Britons from ethnic minorities in England is complicated by most non-white people in England identifying as British rather than English. In their 2004 Annual Population Survey, the Office of National Statistics compared the ethnic identities of British people with their perceived national identity. They found that while 58% of white people described their nationality as "English", the vast majority of non-white people called themselves "British". ///

So what are you THECORBYLOON?
"They found that while 58% of white people described their nationality as "English", the vast majority of non-white people called themselves "British"."

If folk want to say they are British rather than English that is their choice but what YOUare saying is that if that person is not white they CAN NOT be English even if that person is BORN in England. What you are saying is that a true English person is white and if they happen not to be white, they are not really English.

By that thinking, a black person born in England and whose black ancestors have lived only in England in the past two or three centuries can not be English according to your own reasoning.
"white person of English parents, born in Mumbai would not be Indian, or likewise a white person born in Kingston would also not be Jamaican"

Try reading a very interesting book called "White Tribes"? There are plenty of white Jamaicans.
Duncer, the descendants of Irish slaves?
*Now there's British tolerance for you, even if most of them don't celebrate Christmas.*

how do you know that? did you do a survey or interview em all seperately?
