After two police murders in Manchester by a fueding gangster member, the Chief Constable of rural Wiltshire as cited this as a reason to issue his officers with more Tazer Guns to stop them feeling vunerable.

This strikes me as a cynical and disrespectful ploy, to link the two. If he wants his officers to have more Tazer Guns, then fine, but to give the Manchester killings as the reason is disingenuous.

- A Tazer would be no use against a Dale Cregan
- The two Manchester Policewomen had them when they were shot?

Do you believe his decision was as a result of the Manchester killings, or do think he planned to do this anyway?

Planned, but like a lot of laws and rules that get brought in, its on the back of something else and they can use one law to cover a lot of other things they know are controversial.

bit like the anti-terrorism laws , theyve always wanted national databases , cameras all over etc etc., so use the threat of terror ...bazinga , kill 10 birds with one stone.

Its nothing new. dont worry it wont be long until all police officers on the beat will have them
