Well i think so. I've not really been following it either but there was a reference in the Times to "Mr Stammers, who likes to style himself Megan's father" or words to that effect. Intrigued, I re-read the article but was none the wiser. Not THAT intrigued however I then gave up ...

it might sound odd to say - but it would appear this guy actually has genuine feelings for this girl, in the fact that he seems to think the world of her and has done all this in broad daylight - knowing he has wrecked his career, and will be in serious trouble etc, but to him she is worth it - its not like it was a sordid secret liaison that they got caught in - its good that he's not just some sleazy teacher abusing his position to seduce any teenager he can behind closed door... at least all this coming from a position of genuine care for her...
probably no comfort for the parents of course but at least shes not been kidnapped by a weirdo
(im not defending him, just saying that at least shes not in danger)

The "weird" thing is just how much the girl, Megan, looks like Forrest's wife......I reckon he hasn't been getting it at home.......
Guess the police order is for abduction of a minor which is all they have with the possible case for breaking In Loco Parentis, unless she admits to sex before in the UK.....most of the continent the legal age is 15 or younger, so that won't stick and neither will the UK if she denies anything happened.
I also hope that there isn't a "dramatic" end to this.

my point was theres only substance in the sense that he clearly feels something - she isnt just any teenage girl dumb enough to allow herself to be seduced by him, and he is just taking advantage of a gullible young girl - he obviously adores her....in fact i bet if you asked him he would say he loved her.
this isnt a case of a predatory sinister weirdo that just got a job in a school in order to prey on young girls to abuse, with no care at all for the girls.
for all we know, once she is of age and the storm has gone, they may spend the rest of their lives together.
marriages split up and people cheat all the time, thats not really the issue here.

perhaps not, we don't know her story as yet. But there have been two other incidences at the school, one teacher is or was in jail for grooming two young school girls, and another is a schools governor, and he is up in court soon. The school knew about this months ago, so why did they not intervene.

i agree something should have been done sooner - but it doesnt seem like he has groomed her - he would not have risked his freedom, his wife and kids and his job for the sake of a bit of sex with a teenage girl.
for him to have risked all that, shows she means a lot to him.
a sleazy groomer would have called a halt to things as soon as things became problematic ... not fled the country with them

If reports are true, his neighbours say he has a terrible temper and they had to call the police to the house, his dad is worried he may flip. Not the kind of bloke I'd want my daughter with in a strange country, I think it is entirely possible that she could be in danger, maybe not this minute but when things come on top.
