Seems he was eaten by his pigs. Pigs a big fairly dangerous animals (and very tasty) but to attack, kill and then eat seems a bit odd.
No doubt the veggies on the site will be jumping up and down with glee. Perhaps it was a veggie that got him?

They vent this by biting and snapping at anything that is within reach and doesn't bite back. Normally pigs are not this aggressive but the conditions make them this way. Sounds like the old boy might have had a funny turn, maybe even passed away, and fell into the sty.
BTW a favoured way of the old school IRA for 'disappearing' an inconvenient body.

In the New Forest in the Autumn, pigs are turned out to eat the acorns that poison ponies. You are warned NEVER to approach a pig or get between a sow and her litter. They are seriously huge, the only one I have ever seen close up was the size of a two seater settee. When pigs bite, they can chop out the mouthful. Many years ago when we moved here, a jogger ran between a sow and the litter. She chased him and bit a chunk out of his calf....will try and find the link.
