A lot of sexual predators who abuse children seem to have had not much physical experience with women of their own age or any lasting relationships. Does anyone think that any men who live on their own or with their parents and seem to have no interest in the opposite sex should be viewed with suspicion? I would have thought that the vast majority of men would need a sexual outlet of some kind, if not women then what? Not my view but something that was suggested to me the other day.

dave50 - If this is not your view, then why on earth are you advancing it to anyone?

It is obvious from the responses to date - and surely more will follow, that this sort of stereotyping used to get old dears with cats burned as witches.

Suspicion of people who live slightly outside what is considered the norm is a cross such people have to bear, but to try and affiliate them with sexual abusers is not only laughable, it is more than a little sinister.

I would suggest that you distance yourself from this view point fortwith, and probably the person who suggested it to you.
Aren't hose money-launderers, fluffy?
I am pleased to see that the majority of people agree with me that you are an idiot.
not your view dave? then who ever it was that suggested it do they live on their own? with their parents do they own a dog what a load of pishe some people talk.
jno, my parents were suspicious of any unmarried girl I might meet.

They were right twice. I;ve been married twice.
you can't say you weren't warned. How much safer you would have been if society had kept them out of sight of the public with little warning flags by their front doors.
Andy - dave50 - If this is not your view, then why on earth are you advancing it to anyone?

Do you really need an answer to that?
jno - Honestly, no, my parents never gave me any such warning. I was taught a lot of stuff about keeping safe, who to tell if I was worried about something etc... but never any kind of warning like the one you described.
Ive always been a bit unsure about men that wear slip on shoes
Jno - I was warned, but not about specific people, I think that was to do with our upbringing and the amount of men, not just single, that we came into contact with.
perhaps my parents were more cautious than most. As I said, it always proved unfounded. There were paedophiles about and I did get occasional invitations, to which I said no; so they aren't a recent invention.
It's the ones wearing Duffle Coats that worry me!
dave 50 not you sunny d
does this apply to women as well?
My dads single mate took me to Scotland when I was 15. No one raised an eyebrow. I don't think that would happen now...

Yes please - if dave50 wants to supply one, thank you.
Woof - well if it applies to ladies then thats me in the frame :-(
And dave got a debater badge for this kind of Sugar!

I see he hasn't returned ................again.
I'm confused. In my late teens and early twenties I lived at home but was a shag monster who would have chased paper on a windy day. Then I got my own flat and lived alone, so I must have been a pervert for the next few years, before snapping out of it and getting married. Strangely that didn't work out, although we did have a daughter, but I lived alone again for a while; it must have been those latent tendencies kicking in.

I've never heard such poppycock.
Bazinga! surely
