Should Michael Jackson be allowed to get on with his life as he wishes as a free man, or should the court have stepped in to have a psychological evaluation of his state of mind.

Regardless of whether he abused or not, he HAS admitted to sleeping with young boys, DOES show signs of stress, HAS several worrying lifestyles, DID hang his young son out of a balcony several floors up, DOES make his other children wear veils, etc etc.

So regardless of his innocence, should someone decide that he needs to be evaluated to see if he is of sound state of mind, particulaly when in the care of children, his or others.

This isnt me having a go at him but merely an observation i have made that i would like a balanced FOR and AGAINST debate over.

Michael's state of mind is perfectly healthy according to the DAD criterion (Diagnosis of American Dream): he has become (temporarily) rich and famous and is able to do whatever the hell he wants. He may fail some of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) tests, but that's not what matters in the USA.

If he holds his child out of the balcony again, and drops her, what excuse will the social services have for themselves?

I do hope the American Social Services will be allowed to do random spot checks at his home, especially now he is going to be reunuted with his veiled children. As for the balcony saga.....!

The only reason I say this, is because the Jurors are now saying that they believe MJ was guilty of some of the charges - it just doesn't make sense.

He has been famous for so long (almost all his life) and surrounded by so many advisors and assistants that control all the running of his life, i am starting to think he is reverting to a child like state because he hasnt a single responsibility like most people have! It is almost like his advisors etc are his parents and he lets them do all the worrying and work so he can have fun. Which isnt any wonder if he has lived his whole life never having to grow up mentaly

Was nt Debbit Roe trying to get custody of kids.  Whats happening there.  Or would she be any better.  I agree he should be monitored by social services.  The ordinary person on the street would be but I doubt he will be.  O.J.s kids live with him dont they !!!!!!!!!!

I know that if someone came up to me and asked if my kids could go for a sleep over in exchange for X amount of cash I would say two words and one of them isn't very nice.

bit confused over why OJ cant have his kids, he was found innocent as michael was, but i dont believe i have seen stories about OJ being unfit as a father? If i am wrong then please tell me, i wasnt wanting to tread down the path of opinions of verdict as the court has said michael is innocent and we have to stick to that whatever our own personal belief's, i was more reffering to what he is known and admitted to have done that could be seen as harmful to a child, or even himself!

OJ may have killed his wife and lover but he was found innocent, but if he is mentally unbalanced and questions about his abilities to look after children are arising then your statement is understandable, i just havent heard of any myself

When I said: "I bet OJ must be smiling at the outcome", it was because after his court case, some of the Jurors believed he was guilty. The same applies to MJ.

But I s'pose we'll never know what really happened behind closed doors.

Smudge, the members of the jury quoted in the press did not say that they thought MJ was guilty of some of the charges at all. Some of them said that they thought he MAY have done something untoward in the past. The actual charges were being brought against him for the alleged abuse of Gavin Arvizo which he was then cleared of on all counts.

I find his behaviour disturbing but somewhat understandable to a degree, like twiglet says he has never had to do anything for himself that involved any real responsibility. He has been badly advised in the past and misguided to a certain extent and is clearly not at peace with himself. Whether or not psychological evaluation is the answer or not is a diferent story. My opinion is that everyone should just leave him alone.

It does make you wonder though, why the Social Services didn't keep a a closer eye on MJ & his children before this case came up - especially as you say, 'some Jurors thought that he MAY have done something untoward in the past'. Dangling his child over a balcony, oh & the fact that he likes to sleep with young boys comes to mind....!

If he was a member of my family or friends, I'd be very concerned about his behaviour!

Having said all that, he appears to be a very sad man & as he has been found complelety innocent - I wish him & his family well.

2. stress - like several million people in this country none of whom have been in court on paedophile charges

3. Worrying lifestyles - such as? Not 'normal'?

4. Hanging his son - yes ok that was bizarre and very dangerous, but I believe he was severely chastised because of it

5. Veils - as does an entire religion make women wear them

 

In a context removed from his stardom there would be little cause for alarm. I'm just saying none of your points really give cause for a separate investigation.

Didn't say he wasn't odd, merely that none of his oddities would be remarked upon greatly if he wasn;t famous. He has a skeleton - strange but hardly worth a trip to the asylum.

in fact, as that other thread concludes, he hasn't even got a skeleton. Well, apart from the obvious one. Courts have no special powers as far as I know to have innocent people psychologically investigated. Fact is, you're allowed to be odd, and even to do odd things with your family. (As El D points out, the world is full of families who make their kids wear veils.)

Yes well thankfully my opinion also seems to hold the prevailing legal trend otherwise a lot of people would be subject to your psychological investigation for being human and therefore unique.
