Defeated in the EU budget debate he says:

"At best we would like it cut, at worst frozen, and I'm quite prepared to use the veto if we don't get a deal which is good for Britain"

he has got the message but is unlikely to do anything with it. This EU folly has run it's course, why doesn't he see that
Funny isn't it that all of the major parties support continuing membership of the EU despite public opinion.

One might almost think that they know something that the Express doesn't

So you saying that the great British public, are not intelligent enough to reason things out for themselves, that they have to depend on what the Express tells them?
I doubt it! You only have to compare it with the International Aid budget which has increased well above inflation.

What does that point to? He is more worried about upsetting foreigners than those at home many of the poor now having to resort to soup kitchens.
This is all about spin - the party is in agreement that the EU budget should not get a 5% hike, the issue is whether there should be a reduction or a freeze, the latter perhaps more achievable and realistic than an actual cut. The "joke" is that a veto would provide the cuts as the EU constitution prevents them from new spending initiatives, so as projects finish, the budget naturally cuts itself.

Don't forget that this motion was raised by the Conservatives - and not Gromit's lot, who used the opportunity to shyte stir. The Libs are the ones that are left beached by all of these shenanigans. To Cameron, it is a storm in a teacup and, no doubt, he will use the result in his remonstrations to Brussels and fellow EU leaders.
Cameron should look closer to home not getting involved in global poverty

Dont remember mentioning the Express.

Cleggs only got one on because he has already had is snout in the EU trough and no doubt will have it back in again when the liberals heave him out on his ear.
