Your original post suggested that Hilary Clintons message condeming the killing of the Prison Officer in NI was murder exposed the US to charges of hypocrisy.
That is plainly untrue, unless you can demonstrate that the US administration had an official policy, publically stated, of support for the IRA - and you cannot, because they never have.
On the contrary, we owe a debt of gratitude to the the US administration under the Clinton era for their help in brokering the peace process.

Fund raising for the IRA was done on an individual basis, but the American Government did not outlaw it until the Clinton's and Governor Mitchell got involved in the peace process. So the American Government have changed their tune. They should not be castigated for that however, but congratulated.

True. Terrorism became less popular in the states after 911. Gerry Adams and Martin Mcguiness stopped getting invited to fancy parties in Washington. Even Teddy Kennedy became embarrassed about associating with them.
