The Greeks are out on Strike again. Hey that should help the economy eh? I mean it's so unreasonable to work until you are 67 like everyone else isn't it. Much better to get the rest of Europe to pay for your retirement at 50 or so you dont pay taxes.
Will this be the one that breaks the camels back or will Europe relent to try and keep the ailing Euro crawling along?
With Xmas coming up (an ideal time to change currency over the Bank Holidays should get interesting)

oh and ireland...
the whole idea of a common currency between countries with different ethics and attitudes was total bunkum from the start to anyone with an ounce of intelligence..
except the lefty europhiles..
over here we have difficulty in balancing a currency between southerners and northerners....
now we dont get to vote us out of europe or not because the euro politicians know full well what the answer will be..
anyway if we sensibly said get the hell out of this disaster zone the politicians would keep having further refeneda with wording tweaked until they scrape a yes..
please vote now!!!!!!!!!
in or out of the hopeless european union......

Funnily enough when the USA was developing as a country (before they had States) each area was a colony populated by people who spoke different languages (some English, some German, some Dutch etc).
They also used their own unique currencies.
When the "country" of the USA was formed they setlled on one langauge, English, and one currency, the dollar.
And now it all seems so obvious that everyne in the USA uses the dollar, and most people speak English (except for the many who speak Spanish).
And you cant tell me that people in the USA dont have different ethics and attitues. A Texan farmer problems thinks and feels different from a software engineer in say California.
However this was a lot easier to do than when a country is being formed, rather than retro-fitting it all the well-developed countries in Europe.

To be honest, I am surprised it has not already happened, and if it was going to happen I would have thought it would have occurred by now.
I am generally a europhile, but have become very sceptical about the Euro, principally because if it is going to work, it does need common central bank and probably a common political framework, and I cannot see either of those things happening any time soon.
