/// A clearly-unhappy Mr Cameron said he did not like what the presenter was doing, and warned he was fuelling a ‘witch hunt'. He said: 'There is a danger if we are not careful, that this can turn into a sort of witch-hunt, particularly against people who are gay. ///
Also does it really matter if some of the suspects might happen to be gay?

I worked within law enforcement and at the time worked on paedophile intelligence and I can tell you most of the stuff that is spouted here and on other forums and on TV about this subject is claptrap!

Bazile, I fail to see how you could miss it- the names are everywhere, not just a couple but quite a few very highly placed individuals, and no I don't care if they're gay or straight the offence is the same to me, if they are guilty they ought to be dealt with, however all those people trumpeting about 'Phillip Schoefield ought to go to the police', the names are so prevalent that the police must be blind or stupid if they are already unaware- Tom Watson has been investigating this for years and has been constantly at the police to do something about it, which so far they haven't.

Just can't leave it alone, can you?
That is rich coming from a person who's only subject seems to be that one's Avatar is illustrated wearing an upside down union flag on his waistcoat.
But please carry on boring everyone but your mate HumberSloop with your continuous reference to it, absolutely pathetic, I rest my case.
Perhaps while on the subject of avatars, doesn't one know that it is illegal to have a dog's tail docked?
Shame on you.
/// The docking of dogs' tails was banned in England from 6 April 2007 and in Wales from 28 March 2007 ///

this has been rumbling on for weeks now, surely there is enough evidence to arrest, charge and commit to jail those that are guilty of such horrendous crimes..if not these people should come out and say that they will defend themselves to the hilt there is a witch hunt because of the cloak of mystery that is surrounding these people...
As Zeuhl has said - Witch Hunts are a bad thing, as is trial by media - You only need to think back to what happened to Chris Jeffries. And the stunt by Schofield was poor and unhelpful.
All that having been said -I am worried by the inertia and complacency that seems to have been on display. Allegations were made, for instance, about SoViles behaviour decade ago, but nothing happened. We are now having inquiries and investigations into official inquiries from the mid 90s about allegations of abuse and rape of children in government care - said actions that had been committed back in the 70s and 80s!
What does this say? That as a country we do not view child abuse as a serious or abhorrent offence? That the police and institutions were complicit in a cover up at the behest of pepetrators with power and influence? That it was once culturally acceptable?
A DI has recently been dismissed from Operation Sapphire, the Mets Rape and Serious Sexual Assault Squad, for failing to take investigate allegations properly and basically making Sugar up. Does this reflect a wider issue that the police simply feel that sex crimes and allegations of child abuse are not a priority?

/// Witch-hunts are an ugly business. It isn't so long ago that the members of an entire community were all being tarred with the same brush because of the actions of a few paedophiies in Rotherham. ///
If a 'witch hunt' managers to lift one or two rocks and some vermin comes scurrying out, then that can't be a bad thing surely?
Better to go out hunting them, than allowing them to carry on with their vile actions unchallenged.
