Bring back Greg Dyke - he was doing a good job and was pushed out for political reasons.

David Dimbleby gave a good interview on the Radio this morning making the point that the BBC has a perfectly suitable Chairman in Chris Patten, whom it would be wholly unnecessary to remove.
He did also though bring up the highly apt quote that one should "never waste a good crisis". i.e. take the opportunity to take actions which might in other circumstances be inappropriate or difficult.

From the BBC website:
The BBC Trust is directly accountable to licence fee payers; this is essential to maintaining the BBC's independence. This means we have a responsibility to operate transparently.
We consult licence fee payers and industry on important decisions, we conduct audience research and we use our network of Audience Councils to help keep us informed on the views of licence fee payers across the United Kingdom
Anyone here ever beeen consulted?

I've never been consulted on anything by the BBC. I suspect "We consult licence fee payers and industry on important decisions, we conduct audience research and we use our network of Audience Councils to help keep us informed on the views of licence fee payers across the United Kingdom" means "we occasionally watch points of view"
if anyone actually wants to join an Audience Council, rather than just moan about how the BBC never asks them anything, they could start here
