Is it any wonder with councils who vet the adopters political leanings and certain individuals who are so against mixed race adoptions, that they find the need to make such racist remarks as this?

/// "The most valuable resource of any ethnic group is its children. Nevertheless, black children are being taken from black families by the process of the law and being placed in white families. It is, in essence, 'internal colonialism' and a new form of the slave trade, but only black children are used." ///

While some local authorities do take too long, it's encouraging that adoption rates overall have risen by 12% in the last twelve months

The author of the remarks you quote is a poet. Although I understand he came through the care system himself, he's neither a social work practitioner or a policy maker, he's expressing an opinion.

/// he's expressing an opinion. ///

And would you say that opinion, is a Racist opinion?
The problem is that there are very few who meet the "perfect" parents as specified by the Islington set. Apparently you have to be a liberal voting non smoking non drinking vegetarian with a perfect BMI and own a G-wizz!
Perhaps those who express concern over adoption rates should reconsider their stance on gay adoption?

If that is, their concern is indeed for adoptive children, and not political point-scoring.

I mean, if the race of potential adopters is to be ignored, then it stands to reason that sexuality should also not be a barrier.

There is a vast amount of difference between the sexuality of a person, and their race or skin colour.

In what way?

Both are unchosen biological states.

If we lament the thousands of children languishing in care, what possible reason could we have for denying children homes with gay couples?

Is remaining in care preferable?
