Does the Queen really think that this will be just like any normal Cabinet meeting, if not what's the point?

The Queen is known to have like some of her Prime Ministers and to have not liked one or two others. I don't think Margaret Thatcher will be well enough to attend this one.
There isn't any reason for it, it has just become a tradition with our present Monarch, and I thought you liked traditions.

You are wrong of course it is not a tradition, it is the first time she has attended a Cabinet meeting, and the first monarch to do so since Queen Victoria.

/// AOG, you ask 'what's the point?', but what's your point in asking? I can't see a problem with the invitation. ///
If a bona fide Cabinet meeting is not going to take place, and I can assure you it defiantly won't, it will just be a stage acted performance, specially put on for the Queen's benefit.
So I say again "What's the point".

There is a regular Tuesday meeting at Buck House between the Queen and Prime Minister. This week it is being held at Downing St. because she is attending a lunch in honour of the Diamond Jubilee. Because she is already there she will symbolically attend a cabinet meeting. The point is that we have a Monarch and this is one of the rituals that goes with it.
a pretty good explanation as to why she was there.
