Seems a bit disproportionate to me if only hacking emails. An email from these people presumably has been over the internet, which in my book is in the public domain(I doubt it was encrypted). I have always adopted the approach dont put in an email what you dont want anyone to see.

OK not right to hack but 10 years ?

he 'stole' private naked pictures and put them on the internet. He also sent naked pictures of a former colleague to her father.

Sorry, but that's twisted.
Personally I think ten years is excessive given the information in that report. But then I don't know all the facts so perhaps there was more done that was not reported. Also, it looks like it was done in America so maybe there sentencing is different for this sort of crime.
sorry, i reckon he got off rather lightly.
Difficult. If one were the victim then it may not seem enough as one may want vengence; but comparing to other crimes that result in a ten year custodial sentence, it seems difficult to justify. If giving public access to private photos is 10 years then are we about to see an explosion in sentence terms and the prison population ?
Creepy celebrity obsessed hacker. Targets embarassed, maybe humiliated. 10 years custodial seems excessive though.
He would probably have got less if he had stolen an assault rifle 'cos that's much more normal.
