It is wonderful news. I hope that she has the very best of lives here. she will undoubtedly be a huge asset to the cause of women's rights in the Arab world and we should do everything to assist and promote her. So glad she's safe and well.

It wasn't ' necessary' it was however lighthearted- and I've seen far more vitriolic remarks not removed, which is disappointing. There's a massive difference between a ' joke' and something seriously meant.

If it is the facial nerve then, then i would have thought that there may have been an attempt to explore it and reconstruct it.......they may well have done.

if it is in the cortex.........then it may well be permanent.

"Above" the left eye........would indicate that the facial nerve was preserved.

As she is a child, I am happy that she was brought here, given treatment (yes I know it was paid for by Pakistan) and is now well on the way to recovery, and I remember the reassurances given that she and her family would be returning home once she was well.
Now we hear her father has been given a job here and they are staying, was there not someone already resident here who could have filled that post?
Also with regard to the fact that she would be in danger if she went back, was this not realised at the time the assurances that she would return were given?

from what i read when this first happened her father was given the post so that he could be here for his daughter.

i am assuming that there would be a price on her head if she returns, someone with more than a grudge will finish the job. The Taliban do not have any sense of moral outrage as we do of shooting children.

I think I saw something on the news that her father did have a 3 month contract at the Pakistani Embassy but this has now been extended to 3 years.

i didn't know they were, but perhaps it's more beneficial to Pakistan to see her safe than get her back where she could possibly die at the hands of the Taliban. A huge loss of face for the Pakistan government wouldn't you say, in regard to it's relationship with The Taliban and terrorist activity. They could be construed as being seen as colluding with them.
