You have to remember that the solicitor is paid to represent and defend the accused person . Privately he may well think that the punishment is too lenient .

That's what the lawyer is paid to do; you'd want nothing less of your lawyer
if you were accused of a crime. What is odd is that it takes months to decide whether there's a case against the farmer. Given recent remarks by senior prosecutors , these instances should be rarer. The CPS are being encouraged to take a more common sense view; one which, incidentally, the existing law has always taken. It may be that the CPS lose sight of that when a gun is involved.

had the scumbag been driving away then the back of the van would be damaged , it appears that the front was shot at, so he was driving at the farmer. Using a weapon (van) during the commiting of a crime then surely the charge should have been attempted murder, I would much prefer my taxes paid for him to go to prison than benefits to pay his fine.
