I thought his trial was due to start on 14th Jan but I haven't heard anything about it. Do they think we've forgotten?

There was a pre-Trial hearing on 3rd December and the 14th December trial date still stood.

However, at the end of last month it was rumoured the trial was being dropped due to lack of evidence and that Huhne will get a Cabinet job again soon.

Curious.
I've always had my suspicions about this from the start until present.

Hes always been far too smug when questioned, even by the standards of politicians, its as if hes always known he was going to get off.

From the Daily Telegraph last month

// Mr Brass, an asylum judge, is said to have put a message on Twitter on Friday saying: “Breaking news. Met ex-Energy Sec Chris Huhne in Commons, who confirmed that prosecution against him will be dropped next month.”
The message was deleted an hour later.
A friend reportedly said: “It was a private conversation which should never have found its way into the public domain.
“He removed the message as soon as he realised his mistake.” //

So it looks like there will be no trial.
Should read 14th January trial date still stood, in my first post.
So if it was 14th why did it not go ahead, there wasnt any snow chaos at that time as far as I'm aware
The CPS denies the trial has been dropped, but nothing appears to have happened last week when it was due to start.

I always thought that he would get away with it. Had it been an ordinary member of the public, it would have gone to court sooner!
As I understand it, because of this - "Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981" - no reporting of the case is allowed while it is in progress. Again, as I understand it, it has not reached the trial stage yet, if indeed it ever will. However, there are some things we can view to make some sense of how things are progressing. For example looking at this link http://www.courtserve.net/courtlists/current/crown/sthwk_T130124.01.htm,
under Court 3 we can see today, Thursday, 24th January, the following information : sitting at 10:00 AM BEFORE THE HONOURABLE MR JUSTICE SWEENEY (2) For Mention T20127076 HUHNE Christopher PRYCE Vasiliki
Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981.
Likewise at this link http://xhibit.justice.gov.uk/xhibit/southwark.htm we can see the following information:Court 3 T20127076 CHRISTOPHER HUHNE
VASILIKI PRYCE For Mention - Hearing finished for VASILIKI PRYCE - 16:30
This I think confirms to us that today things were still at the Hearing stage.
And lastly, for now, this link
http://www.courtserve.net/courtlists/current/crown/sthwk_T130125.01.htm
- Court 3 COURT NOT SITTING - shows us that tomorrow, Friday, 25th January,
Court 3 is not sitting - so it sounds like there is the possibility that nothing is happening tomorrow. I hope this helps!

Thanks for that lochmaddy. I just hope something is done and he doesn't get away with it! Well I can dream!
Yes, Kathyan, I agree that if he has done what he is charged with, then justice ought to be done!
2 weeks on and he definitely didn't get away with it
would have been 3 points and a fine, now 10 years later his job. what a dopey bloke..
