If anybody should be banned from doing their jobs its these PC dim-wits at the NMC, typical public servant type jobsworths who never see light due to the impenetrable fog of stupidity that governs their working day.

Common sense is an alien concept to idiots like these.

still the nurse has learnt her lesson, find a kid in the street ....just leave them there next time ?!

whilst i agree that the ban is a nonsense, why didn't she call the police, and let them deal with it. Suppose the father hadn't seen the note, and thought the child had been kidnapped.. or worse.
Bit stupid moving the child about, would have been fine if she'd just stayed with it or called the police, but really not worthy of a six month ban, that is just pure stupid.
Error of judgement by the nurse. Agree she should have called police. Six month's ban seems ott, but for all I know she might have a "disciplinary history" with her employers.
Child between 3yrs and 5yrs old. Why on earth leave him/her alone anyway?
Silly parent, no, stupid idiotic parent.
agree idiot parent, however i would have phoned the police.

Only stupid in todays PC ridden climate.

the kid was jumping in and out of a car
She had an urgent appointment

"I had my uniform on and - as far as I'm concerned - I followed the NMC's conduct, which is to make the care of people your first concern"

Like she said, biggest mistake was telling her team leader.

if this team leader had any brains why couldnt they have just had a word in her ear......silly me of course not, that would mean the application of common sense.

I just hope this kids father stands up for her in any upcoming appeal and that these jobsworths get called out for what they really are.

they now have, by the sounds of it a conscientious staff member doing nothing for six months..way to go NMC, your loss !
I don't think the ban is for the error of judgement (which it clearly was - she should have called the police if she was worried) but for her inability to acknowledge the error of judgement. We all make mistakes, but some people stupidly refuse to acknowledge them.
That reports makes no sense at all. Is there a better link?
the child was not 'lost', so she should not have removed him - it was good of her to take the responsibilty for his satfety but she did make a mistake in taking him, especially since she is a professional care giver - she should perhaps have been more aware of consequences

she should have been just reprimanded for it though - the ban is way too much - they should be glad they have people who care on their team
The article is not really a full story.
