Maybe citizenship classes should concentrate on things that matter rather than how to claim benefits. It seems its common practice for an older person to marry girls of 13 or less. Law should come before religion any time.

I am largely against faith schools of all types because it causes division and sends mixed messages to kids about what is and isn't okay within a small religious framework, but quite frankly I don't believe him anyway, so I think it's an entirerly moot point.

I dislike the notion of faith schools. They are held up as positive examples of diversity and multiculturalism iin modern day Britain, but, almost by by definition they promote notions of exclusivity and apartness, based upon their religion.

There are many reports of inappropriate teachings from faith schools. Whilst these examples are not exclusively from islamic schools, it does seem they are the worst culprits.

It is not sufficient,in my view for the DoE to simply accept the stated syllabus and stated intentions of the governors etc. We need to see far more spot checks and unannounced visits from inspectors to ensure rigour.

I haven't read the article in detail - but it sounds like a transparently desperate defence and should be dismissed as such.

there have been a few Jewish schools to serve some of the roughly 300,000 jews in the Uk, i dont ever recall hearing of any problems like these islamic schools are producing.

The CPS should appeal this decision as it is clearly "unduly lenient". (The sentencing guidelines suggest a custodial trm of four to six years for such an offence.

I think your logic circuits are seriously awry if so.

There is a huge difference between a bunch of people on the one hand celebrating their sexuality in a non-exclusive manner, welcoming all regardless of sexual orientation, in a clear reaction to decades if not longer of oppression, victimisation, abuse and more, and on the other religious fruitloops who wish to teach children that their faith makes them superior to others within society, or to reject or ignore scientific fact in favour of religious doctrine, or teach values stemming from religious beliefs that are at odds with equality issues.

If you could point to me supporting, lets say an educational initiative that promoted homosexuality, said hetersexuality was a sin for which they would burn in hell for an eternity, that their orientation was superior and mandated by god, and that other people who did not follow such teachings were somehow inferior - then you might have a point.

Otherwise it is just an example of poor logic.....
