muslems don't gamble? they certainly buy enough lottery scratchcards and tickets to suggest they perhaps do

I might consider erecting a 2foot sign on the front of my house that will read 'FYI A Christian lives here '.
that's what i meant dotty, they do, i remember years ago being at a casino
and the high rollers were in town, Arabs and the Americans, trying to outdo one another...
Dot, //I might consider erecting a 2foot sign on the front of my house that will read 'FYI A Christian lives here '. //

Don't forget to apply for planning permission. ;o)
I sometimes wonder how much the purchase of lottery tickets by muslems prevents none-muslems from winning. If a muslem wins the lottery, do they actually claim the prize?
I might just say it is a temporary religious celebration, some folk leave their christams lights up all year
if a christian put a tract from the bible etc it would be taken off pretty quickly by council as it could be offensive to other religions
I am shocked and disappointed by your post Ratter.
Sorry Eccles, I do not trust Muslim extremists and I detest the faith of Islam and its barbaric and out dated practices.

/// AOG - If you wanted to erect similar-sized lettering, to the effect of, "This is the abode of Mr and Mrs Oldgit", you would be expected to acquire Planning Permission to do so. ///

Yes I suppose we would, but unlike some 'couples' we wouldn't be able to accuse the local authorities of being discriminating against us for some particular reason.

Planning Laws are applicable to all regardless of 'circumstances'.
I understand, to some extent, your view of extremists, it's not only Muslim extremists that commit atrocities though.

To continue that you detest a faith in it's entirety is bigoted IMHO.
Living in a very multicultural town as I do, this would not have raised an eyebrow on me - presuming it to be a place of worship/school etc. However given the fact it is a domestic dwelling then I consider the planning laws should apply, or why cannot the residents next door have 'The house that Fred built' in similar sized letters.

To proceed with anything that requires permission and then apply in retrospect is always a risk.
If the signage is removed will the businessman show costs in his prophet and loss accountings?
Eccles, to detest a ‘faith’ is not bigoted – it’s an opinion of that faith. To detest all people of a faith is bigoted. I detest all organised religion, but it doesn’t follow that I detest all the faithful as individuals. I don’t.

Douglas, very good. :o)
If I put a flashing pentagram above my house, coupled with the wiccan crede in 2 ft letters -would I be asked to take it down? What about these silly people that cover their houses in Christmas decorations illuminated to such an extent they can be seen from space? The worst this is is bad taste and I suspect the people complaining are the local NIMBY's
A chap from Pakistan won £19 million on the lottery some years ago. I'd bet he claimed it.
mags, I imagine Christmas decorations, as temporary features, don't require planning permission.

If you had not applied for and acquired planning permission - yes.
sandy if he made his win public he was probably not a muslem, at a guess
