Why Haven't Uk Papers Covered Morrissey's Illness
Morrissey has had to cancel his tour dates in USA. He has the potentially pre-cancerous condition, Barrett's Oesophagus.
Usually our press is obsessed with celebrity so why hasn't this been in our papers?

It's sad when anyone becomes ill ... famous or otherwise.
But when people alienate themselves by things like ...

... blaming Princess Kate for the death of the nurse who killed herself ...

You've answered your own question. The press (as in gutter) is obsessed with celebrity. Morrissey is not the sort of celebrity they're interested in. He could die a slow, agonising lingering death but it would only make the papers if he offended middle england with some "tasteless" remark about the royal family in the process
Thank you everybody for your views. I have no real interest in Morrissey. I do have a very strong interest in the illness. Our media shies away from discussion whereas in US, they promote and focus on the condition.
I believe passionately that we need to educate people about common risks like Barrett's Oesophagus so we can make lifestyle choices that will reduce the number of deaths.
One person an hour (on average) dies of oesophageal adenocarcinoma in UK. Most of these aould have been prevented if those with Barrett's had been identified. There mau be one million of us with Barrett's in this country but only 10% know. Most people have never heard of it and, according to an NHS survey, 40% of people do not know what the oesophagus is!
