So it's finally come out today what the motive was for the Philpotts to cause a fire, killing their children. Wonder where why they would go to such lengths though. His live in mistress moved out taking kids and benefits, surely that wouldn't make you go to these lengths.

What came out ?
It obviously did in this case. He lost a lot of the benefits when mistress went, they were hoping to get a bigger council house.
seems some have no thought as to how this could happen, but it's plain how quickly fire spreads, what a terrible terrible thing for them to do, the price has been enormous.
All of this assuming they did actually do it of course because that little thing called a trial isn't actually over yet- so no verdict.
We should not comment on this since it is still only in the trial stage and nothing has been proven one way or another.

But having seen the various photos of the house, what I would like to know is what other Council House has such luxury fencing as well as a conservatory?
AOG is correct. at this time, the only sure thing is that accelerant was used to start the fire, QED a deliberate act. As to who set the fire, that is still to be proven. The prosecution side are still seeting their stall out, and the defence argument is nowhere in sight yet.

Very true.......

....but I'd be confident to bet every last penny I have on whos guilty, the verdict and winning !
I think it was more to do with the custody side than the benefits, it said yesterday that the mistress who moved out was planning court proceeedings to get the children full time and he wanted to teach her a lesson but it all got out of hand .............. but who really knows? What I want to know is how he started the fire, maybe he just thought he could put it out quickly, he must have been thick not to realise he was putting the childrens' lives in danger. Poor little children.
I've just read the Guardian article and its all becoming clear how it could have happened...........
Hope Baz is never on a jury

Seems he only needs to hear the prosecution case the defence is irrelevant!
Hope JTP is never on a jury !

I dont recall actually typing who or what verdict, so you seem to have made a guess as to what i'm thinking, just a guess, which from your opening line you seem to think your more entitled to do than I am, even though I havent actually stated anything specific.

lets see if what you think i'm thinking turns out to be right then shall we !?
Bazwillrun - are you joking with that response?
Like I said, If he wants to second guess me, and try and slate me for doing the same about the case fine, lets just wait and see whos guesswork turns out to be correct shall we ?
Having seen a photograph of this guy I just can't believe that he had a wife AND a mistress, or that he was just 45?
I agree with baz.
he is 56 according to the article i was reading, he looks a good deal older.
Must have misread the piece, but you're right, he looks like a gay porn star pensioner with that cheesy moustache.
he sounds a thoroughly awful bloke, but what on earth were these women thinking of, or is that it, not thinking..
