This is why "taking the law into your own hands" in your own home can be a problem.
We see comments where people say if they had a burgler i ntheir house they wouldbatter them to death or stab them, but in the dark it could be your wife or one of your children, or maybe someone one of your children brought back to stay the night (maybe to sleep on the sofa).
Very risky to take the law in your own hands (mind you South Africa can be a very dangerous place).
Tragic whether they were famous or not. True it would not reach the headlines to the same degree if they were an average joe but he is famous so it is of public interest to those who have followed his sporting life. You do not need to know him personally to declare it a tragic situation.
South Africa is a very dangerous place and it is usual for "well off" people to have serious home defences including personal weapons. In my experience intruders stand a very good chance of getting shot.
I think this story would've hit the headlines no matter who the person was, because of the tragic nature of the incident. Man accidentally kills girlfriend on Valentines Day because he mistakes for her for a burglar.
Wouldn't the papers be all over a story like that, no matter who was involved?
He's been charged with murder. Police have been called to his home because of domestic violence in the past. Neighbours heard 'noises' earlier before the shots. On Sky News.
