Is there no end to these accusations of racism?

/// Sports Illustrated chose ‘to tap into the West's past obsession/fetishization with so called savages.' ///

FETISHIZATION, That's a new label to add to the multitude of pigeon holes.

/// Dr David Leonard, associate professor in the Department of Critical Culture, Gender, and Race Studies at Washington State University, went on to say that beyond their use as human props, the natives in the images are imagined as servants there to please Westerners on their exotic
adventure. ///

Only in certain person's imagination, surely?

Is this the same daily mail that ran a lingerie photo spread of Reeva Steenkamp on Friday?

"Servants"? - who says servants? DM at its best, stirring it up again. IMO those adverts are clever - the ethnic participants could always have refused to take part if the context offended them.
The Daily Mail cites one woman critic and one academic who explains the possible thinking behind the complaint. Why does anybody care, in the Daily Mail or anywhere else ?

Nice to think that the next time a Western tourist poses with Masai tribesmen in Kenya, they are "using human props" or imagining them as servants!
The photo in China was most likely taken in Guilin. The fishermen and the cormorants they train are part of the tourist attraction.
I have no objection to the obvious racism, sexism and sterotyping, but I detest the crass unimaginative way this project has been realised.

Without bothering to look, I am guessing 'Sports Illustrated' is an American magazine. It seems to following their ignorance of anything beyond their own shores.

They could use me as a prop no problem.

It is most surprising that Camp Coffee hasn't been forced to change it's name.

It is both racist and homophobic.

But wait a minute, I spoke too soon.
