I have a better idea, send all young unemployed yobs who hang around all day drinking council lager,to university to make them more employable???

If this were rolled out to the population then some form of payment would have to happen otherwise it would cost the universities a lot of money..likewise a lot of soft "enjoyable" courses may not be sufficient in order for career progress.

I thought they had extended the age from 54 to 60 (some thing) that student loans were available. Some sceptics at the Daily Mail suggest this is just a way of encouraging pensioners to get into debt.

Not if you understand the rules for repaying student loans.
However, if the money isn't going to repaid the taxpayer will pick up the bill ultimately. I doubt in practice the government wants it to work (because of the cost) or has really thought it through yet.

isn't it to do with upgrading skills, that is what i thought i heard, however i honestly can't see too many employers wanting to take on the over 60's, not because they would be bad at the work, just there is such ageism in our society, especially in the work place.
