In light of Iran's possession of nuclear capability, could we possibly keep out of going to war with Iran, if either the US or Israel attack Iran, or visa versa?

Iran has vast reserves of oil and gas which are needed in the western world.
We need to "protect" Iran, just like we, and others, "protected" Iraq and Afghanistan.
It always comes down to oil.

we may not be buying from them at the moment but they are still a major exporter without whom global oil prices would rocket.

No if Iran wants to get nuclear weapons its to defend itself from Israel and everyone knows you never attack a country that has nuclear weapons as its self assured destruction.
