According to a link given in the readers comments from Western Telegraph, the New york monster was a raccoon and the Tenby thing was a dog.

I read that (about the New York creature) too.

The bloating and the lack of hair would disguise what the animal looked like before it died.

However, I am leaning towards the theory that these are mutant beasts that have been created in a secret government lab...

...because that's more fun.

It looks very similar to the one over in the US, to me. I think it is a dead alien, or it is the waterlogged corpse of an animal experiment, escaped from a secret research facility of the Illuminati. Either that or a cousin of ALF.
