I think the electorate was rather miffed when she extolled the virtues of state education and then quietly proceeded to have her own child privately educated. So much for her Socialist values. See, even when Labour was in office we were all in it together. ;o)
Agree with pdq1
So do I Noth.
What was the interview about? Does anyone know? The OP doesn't say and it's hard to comment without knowing. Then maybe we could talk about the issue also
Ms Abbott should practice what she preaches, if not then don't bleat on about it.

2003? Don't think it was that em :-)
maybe not, but this was what both I and Naomi were talking about, she went on about how one should never send a child to a private school, privileged and divisive etc, then turned about face and sent her child to a private school
Horrible woman and I agree, most probably racist
i think she is, as is this woman, who i have listened to endless times, not always willingly... Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, i know she is not a politician, but a journalist..
As usual ....................all sorted with the "taken out of context" line.
I thought we had to be careful about throwing around the accusation of racism?

It seems that when a public figure who is white is accused of racism, the accusers are immediately accused themselves ("You've got a chip on your shoulder" etc etc).

I'm not slating anyone here...just pointing out the slight unfairness.

Incidentally, Ms Abbott annoys me because she's a clever woman who displays astonishing poor judgement and just seems to spout the first thing that enters her head.

She should be a management consultant...

Or run a children's dance studio.
And it's probably hair extensions, rather than a wig, by the way.
I stick by my post @ 18:09 Fri 01st Mar 2013

Got any examples, sp?
sp, Ms Abbot doesn't display much intelligence, not for a Cambridge Graduate, having watched and listened to her on any number of shows, radio, tv, read articles and so on, and she doesn't come across as being any more intelligent than your average tv pundit. As to racism that goes right across the board, and Ms Yasmin A Brown, a woman i cannot abide, made a gaffe on the Matt Wright show some time back, for which she wasn't pulled up, by referring to her fellow panellists as 'you people', white is what she meant... i was as they say agog...
SP, //It seems that when a public figure who is white is accused of racism, the accusers are immediately accused themselves ("You've got a chip on your shoulder" etc etc).//

Let’s not be disingenuous here. A black person accused of racism against white people – and that accusation being taken seriously - is rather rarer than the other way around. See how easily she brushed it aside – and got away with it?
indeed Naomi..
She strikes me as a bit behind the times. She's from an older political generation when it was acceptable to spout casual racism against whites (presumably to redress the balance or something). Thankfully nowadays we know racism of any kind is unnacceptable.

Unfair to bring her hair into it though. What's that got to do with anything?
I don't know what her hair has to do with it either - but for obvious reasons she does use twice as much make-up as me. ;o)
