Once again the messenger (Daily Mail) gets shot despite the story being reported in a number of other organs. This is clearly labelled "culturally sensitive" and filed in one of the ever growing number of drawers to which the public (who actually paid for the numbers to be compiled) is denied access.
Whay are the figures kept secret? I don't imagine it's because they might show that there is no evidence to support the fact that gender-selective abortions are prevalent among some section of the population.
What would I gain from such knowledge? It would confirm my suspicions that this practice is rife. In hiding these figures all the government is doing is fuelling these suspicions. It isn't fuel for hatred, friedgreen. I don't hate people of oother races or cultures. But I do have suspicions that, far from integrating with those who are already in the UK, there are large numbers of people who have no intentions of doing so. Then I can dismiss the pleadings of politicians that multiculturalsm is good for the nation.

Don't you think that your personal insulting posts seem rather silly and childish, why do you find it impossible to join in with a debate without the need to take the opportunity to have what is now getting all too boring digs at both the Daily Mail and myself?
It is a wonder that the administrators have not taken you to task over such things, because your kind of responses only alienate ABers against each other.

perhaps because the impact is an imbalance of population, if girl foetus's are aborted because they are of no use? then surely that would always be wrong.. China is only just beginning to wake up to it's gender imbalance, and i suspect that other communities around the world, where women are not valued, are doing the same.

It was your presumption that I have a hatred towards other cultures and so by having knowledge of the list it would only increase this hatred.

I think you might find, FGT, that your first reply gave the impression that because the issue did not directly effect AOG that it was of no importance to him:

This certainly led me to believe that anybody not directly effected by the issue had no right to ask why the figures were not to be made public. People have a wide range of interests and ask questions about a number of things without those things necessarily having a direct impact on them.
Anyway, I don’t want to get bogged down in a slagging match because I don‘t think it‘s very helpful. But you mustn’t be too surprised if people take offence if you make remarks such as you did.

This certainly led me to believe that anybody not directly effected by the issue had no right to ask why the figures were not to be made public. People have a wide range of interests and ask questions about a number of things without those things necessarily having a direct impact on them.
Anyway, I don’t want to get bogged down in a slagging match because I don‘t think it‘s very helpful. But you mustn’t be too surprised if people take offence if you make remarks such as you did.

I’m simply at a loss to understand why this should not be “in the public interest”. Why should the public not be told whether particular sections of the population undertake such practices?
Anyway, let’s cut to the chase. I think we can probably guess that if indeed one section of UK society does partake in this particular practice more than others then it is almost certainly those with an Asian background. My suspicions are a little strengthened by an experience of mine when speaking to an Asian friend about his brother. “Has he any children?“ I asked. “No” he replied. But then after a quick rethink he came back with “Well, yes, but only two daughters.”
Why do they do so? For us in the UK it’s one of life’s great mysteries. I’m sure there are perfectly rational explanations for those living in Asia. However, I cannot see why anybody living in the UK (and subscribing to this nation’s culture and traditions) should want to do so. And this is just one reason why I part company with the notion that “multiculturalism” can work and is beneficial to this country.
