I was against our involvement in the war and believed it would make us less safe rather than more, but this is hardly the time or place to gloat about it. There's dead and dying people out there FFS.

Would you explain to me how you interpret my post as gloating?
because it stinks of "see, told you so".
Question Author
Hmmmmm. I'll try to be careful not to voice an opinion in future, then.
It's a sad day but one that was bound to happen sometime.....at time of writing unknown what the casualty situation is but whoever did it succeeded 100% in causing disruption and concern.
Bush and Blair between them just haven't a clue how to stop something which they at least had a hand in starting.
Question Author
I am as aware as anyone of the pain and suffering that results from these outrages, but I see no reason for not laying the blame fairly and squarely where it belongs. Anyone who can't see this, has their head in the sand.
One other thing. To those criticising me, I have worn the Queen's uniform as a regular soldier serving in Northern Ireland, so I know a bit about bloodshed. I wonder if they have served in anything other than a game of tennis.
Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion just try and be more sensitive when expressing it!
Hi d0gsb0dy, i thought your criticisms on your post was a bit uncalled for.  I didn't read your post as gloating at all.  Everyone has a right to voice their opinions... so carry on.

Thanks, Butter. My post wasn't meant to be offensive, but it reflects my intense anger at what has happened as a result of the crass folly of T. B. and, of course, Bush.
Not remotely a fan of Bush or Blair ianess but it was al-Qaeda who started it, on 9/11. I'm not at all sure how the USA and UK could have responded to that in order to prevent what's happened today. Staying out of Iraq might have helped, but Iraq doesn't seem to have been a factor in the World Trade Centre attacks.

women and kids are being slaughtered every day in Iraq, we dont see pictures of it but it is happening, whats making me sick to my stomach is the thought of bush and blair crying crocadile tears this evening, this is down to them.

Quite correct, Myron. Take a look at this http://www.rense.com/general34/realre.htm
its ok to say we are stuck our head in the sand over Blair and its his fault dogsbody, but have u got your head stuck in the sand thinking that people like saddam would happily turn over a new leaf and be a nicer person to his people?? no he wouldnt and i have to respect Blairs boldness to remove a despot (albeit under suspect reasons given) and try to give iraq back to the iraq people. And if that makes us a target then so be it. We did the same in 2 world wars and i would like to think that one day we will turn on the likes of mugabe etc. It is what makes us a GREAT Britain and not like many other countries that shy away from conflict at the expense of other people. If Blair is so at faul why was he not targetted, why was it different people from different nationalities, race, age and backgrounds with different faiths and beliefs. With people targetting people like this in acts of murder under the misguided belief its a holy war then i support Blair fully in his actions!
I suspect this has less to do about the war and more to do about disrupting the G8 summit.  If the summit was scheduled to take place in, say, France this year then I expect there would have been some kind of attack there.
Dogsbody, these terrorist attacks by these fanatical FASCIST groups, were common place before and including 9/11, how can you say with certainty that this 'war on terror' had caused this outrage, these low lifes love murdering people including muslims btw, and you will find that they will and have always used one political reason or another to carry out these outrages, when the simple truth is that they just love killing innocent people...i guess its typical of many that whenever something bad happens its always down to bush or blair...if it was only that simple..

I can't believe it hasn't happened sooner, to be honest.  Since 9/11 the police and intelligence have been warning of a major terrorist attack on London.  They have done an excellent job so far, think of all the attacks they must have foiled so far that we will never know about.  Thank god that so far the emergency services operations seem to have been bang on.  I hope the fatality count doesn't rise from 2 but I think it will.

I agree with jno, whatever I think about the Iraq war, al-Qaeda would still be terrorising the west regardless of Bush and Blair's stance on Iraq.  They did not care about Iraq and Saddam Hussein as it was a secular Muslim society, they are just using it as an excuse to kill, maim and cause chaos.

I know every action has complex and direct consequences but I think it is extremely unfair to suggest that this tragedy should be blamed entirely on Blair and Bush.  Did they plant the explosives?  I don't think so.

Ultimately in a free, democratic society these terrible things cannot be prevented 100%.

Question Author
Other than the IRA, when did we last have any of these 'commonplace attacks'?

The blame, mate , is on those that planted the bombs.

I am/was against the war, but terrorists are terrorists, they attack the weak, not the strong. ie NOT Blair but the ordinary people in the name of their **** religion.

take your pick from numerous countries all over the world or don't they count, face facts these b******* have been trying to launch attacks on countries like britain for years even before 9/11, the number of terrorist cells that have popped up in the late 90s and intelligence are prove of this, just because they have not succeded until now does not mean it has not been for the want of trying, and i bet the low lifes that were responsible live in suburban streets in britain..and have done for years...and i also bet when some of them are tracked down there will be do gooders by the truckload claiming they are all innocent...

dogsbody, what a wicked heartless thing to say at a time like this.
