Sally Bercow Not Attending Thatchers Funeral ?
Front page of the Sunday Times today. Sally Bercow won't be attending the Thatcher funeral next week, as she believes that she ushered in a "very greedy and selfish society"
Bit of an embarrassment for her husband and the rest of the Tory party I would have thought. Perhaps Thatchers wasn't the only woman in parliament with balls after all !

'rest' isn't actually quite correct
John Bercow stood as an independent in the last election - which I was grateful for as it meant I wouldn't have to vote Tory (none of the other major parties stand against the speaker)
Of course the opportunistic Nigel Farage thought he'd take advantage of that and stand here too - he didn't even make 2nd place!

She enjoys a standard of living through her husband's role as the Speaker of the House, without that, even fewer people would have heard of her. Her husband's role means he has to be there and she should also attend, as his wife, or maybe she should live a separate independant life, and forgo all the luxury she enjoys. It's exactly the same as anyone else married to a person whose role demands their attendance at some function, you may not like it but it goes with the job!

She is perfectly entitled not to go. However the reason she gives rather looks like she is using the opportunity to court more publicity.
After all if she had gone no one would have mentioned her, now she is on the news.
She should probably get her own house in order before casting aspersions against other, but then, thats why she is in Court .
