Are Ukip The Real Conservatives?
Many former Conservative voters are so fed up with the Cameron coalition that they will turn to UKIP as the party which comes closest to a traditional Conservative agenda, and a reasoned position on the European issue. One can hardly blame them for that.’

It was just the elites here fooling the public into being in favour that made out the EEC was a market relaxation issue only. We voted to remain in something that was not as it was described to us, thus making the result invalid by any reasonable measure. TH would have known.
I went to a men's club meeting today in an affluent area which is predominate Tory and was surprised how many said they would be voting UKIP next week and in the next general election. Most of them thought it was a big con. to promise a referendom AFTER the next election.
Some of them were members of the Conservative Assoc. and had received phone calls asking for their support and when they refused, were told :
" Oh we will have to put you down as a DT ( Disgruntled Tory ) with the others. "
I fear we are in for another coalition , possibly Lib/Lab who are the more natural bedfellows.

ichkeria //Sounds like you were in core UKIP territory there :-) //
Could be, but as I said in Gromit's other post it is the working class who suffer the most from our membership of the EU and the uncontrolled immigration. Made worse by Labours open door policy . A policy which can not be changed as long as we remain a full member of the EU.
It appears at the moment it's mainly the Tory voters who are rebelling against the government. whilst the Labour voters are mainly doing what they are told by their party .

It's also my belief that EU membership especially and immigration are not such huge issues at General Election time as some, especially the right of the Tory party and UKIP, appear to think.
I'll say this for UKIP: at least they don't pretend to be anything other than the "Real Tories". That's fine for now while people use them as a dumping ground for a protest vote but it doesn't have much future as a means of getting into power. Although I actually don't think UKIP are interested in "power" anyway.

I have to say UKIP talk a lot of sense with issues such as the HS2 rail line and immigration controls.
I think a vote for UKIP is as close to a revolution we are going to get, we are so soft in this country !
While I'm at it, if you don't like the idea of a High Speed rail line ripping up the centre of the country, sign this petition http:// epetiti ons.dir ect.gov .uk/pet itions/ 46498

Zacs, do you not feel angry that the EU is crapping all over us and the current Government is doing nothing to stop it ? And Lib, Lab, Con are planning on spending 45billion on an unwanted, unecessary, out of date rail line? And the immigration 'controls' we have seem to have left the doors open and employment is suffering because of it? enough is enough.
Ok, rant over. thanks !

UKIP's manifesto supports high speed rail links. They'd build a few, so far as I can see, tho' how they'd pay for them along with the huge tax cuts and spending on the armed forces is not clear.
Admittedly that hasn't stopped them jumping on the nimby bandwagon regarding the high speed rail link that the other evil parties have conspired to foist upon us :-)
