He certainly adds weight, and I'm sure he's better placed to evaluate the economics than I am. I still don't agree, on the principle that Union ought to be better in an increasingly global world. On its on the UK's voice would carry less weight. The EU certainly could do with reform and improvement, and we ought to want that too. The best way to achieve this, I'd have thought, would be from within.

Also Lawson is full of rubbish on Climate Change, so I don't tend to listen to him that much.
Arguably Laswon was the chancello
doubled interest rates and trebled inflation, didn't he? Or was it the other way round?
c'mon, ichkeria, you can do it...
(whoops) chancellor who unbalanced the UK economy with his massive tax cuts in the 80s.
He does add weight to the argument but not as much as in previous years perhaps :-)
Oh one of the more sucessful chancellors to have crashed the UK economy on black Wednesday?

He even has a wikipedia entry named after him

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawson_Boom

//a combination of the abandonment of monetarism, the adoption of a de facto exchange-rate target of 3 deutschmarks to the pound, and excessive fiscal laxity (in particular the 1988 budget) unleashed an inflationary spiral.//

He's also a massive climate change skeptic - not that he's in any way qualified to judge

I don't think Nigel Lawson adds any credibility to anything - No doubt any famous name espousing their cause will be lept on by those agreeing with his views (on climate change or the EU)

Will the fact the Nigel Lawson backs something convince a change of heart in oponents or convince the undecided? - I doubt it

Preaching to the choir
Now, if Nigella had said that, I'd listen! Phwooar!
I think Nigella does have such views but hasn't been able to get them off her chest...
Didn't warn us of the approaching Financial Crisis did he ? Some expert !!!

Ah yes, Lawson. The man who steered us into Black Wednesday losing the country £3.4Billion.

Nearly spilled my glass of Erdinger chuckling that anyone would take him seriously ever again after that.
In the early 80's the mortgage rate on my new mortgage soared to 16% under this man. Unemployment when in a similar direction. Now just what were some people saying about credibility and Lawson ?
