The Guardian chose to add the following,

/// His lawyers told Siac that Abu Qatada's five children had been subjected to repeated EDL demonstrations outside the house with people shouting: "Just kill him." ///

I would have thought that would have been a 'Get out of Jail free card' on it's own?
jeez, the family should seek asylum in Jordan, away from EDL
"Mr Justice Irwin also said there was "no doubt about the national security threat" the radical cleric poses to Britain."

but theres a few on here who think we should allow him to stay !

The issue of him being granted bail and the possibility of his deportation are unrelated. I believe it will be a while yet before we see the back of him unless he carries out his promise to leave voluntarily.
Agreed NJ, but I believe the noose (metaphorically speaking) is gradually tightening
Not allowed to stay Baz - made to stay - if the alternative is having him running about free in the rest of the world.

To listen to some people on here they'd have deported Osama Bin Laden if he'd been here in the 90's - I mean goodness only knows these people cant be a threat to us once deported - can they?
There are thousands of people who hate us and are a threat to us running around in the world jake. Kicking this one out to join them isn't going to make things any more dangerous for us.

He's going to be plotting ways to kill you and I wherever he is. There's no reason we should have to fund him to do so. That's just silly.
@JTP

heres an idea, lets round up the worlds worst of the worst, ship them to the UK and then we can house them and give them benefits of all sorts....but at least we can keep an eye on them all

Quite so, baz.

I've had this ludicrous argument with jake before. The notion that we should accommodate terrorists from around the world because we can "keep an eye on them" is so preposterous that I almost split my sides.

The way to help protect people here in the UK is to bring our troops back from the hell-holes where they are currently "keeping Britain safe" and use them to enforce rigorous border controls at our ports and airports. Particular attention should be given to people arriving from Pakistan. This would be far more effective than spending money keeping the likes of Abu Qatada either in custody or under house arrest.
The breaking news I would love to hear, that someone had put a piece of lead in his head, that's what you call breaking news, I am so against the likes of this scum & his hopo's, but I think it's about time this Gov & any gov had the b@lls and kick the lot of the evil scum out.

TWR, whilst I applaud your enthusiasm,
I too would like to see the back of him,
what's he been doing that you want him shot in the head?
New Judge - that is a fantastic idea. The Border Control is where our 'control' system falls down. Double the staff - stop everyone not just random passengers - and be like Australian customs. If in doubt, kick 'em out. On a return plane asap.
/I am so against /

OOh yes dear, we can hear your blood boiling from here

Thing is TWR: If Abu Qatada said you had a beautiful body ....

what's all this guff about Australia being tougher than us on Asylum Seekers?

Between September 2011 and September 2012, 20,838 people applied for asylum in the UK.

In 2011, 33% of asylum applications were accepted

So that would be about 7,000 into a population of 60 million

Under Australia’s Humanitarian Program, there are 13,750 refugee and protection visas granted every year.

In 2011-12, 13,759 visas were granted under Australia's Humanitarian Program.

That's into a population of 23 million
Baldric, that evil piece of sht would think nothing of organising the destruction of that shopping center in Essex ( Can't remember its name) also the thousands of people that go in there, there is a way to stop some evil people! a lump of lead comes to mind, It only gets done once by the right people, as that basds knows when he spouts off his evil against the UK, the place that has kept him & his tribe for the last few years.
Zeuhl, I take it you like this piece of sht?
Is there any need to talk like that, TWR?
Yes Zeuhl. But you need to add to the UK figures the numbers of people (a) that the authorities know nothing about (which, by their nature are impossible to quantify) and (b) those who have arrived here and have applied to stay but whose cases are yet to be heard or determined. In September last year this number stood at about 320,000. Using members of the armed forces to help prevent people getting here illegally will help keep this number stable and using the same workforce to help with the determination of cases and the deportation of those deemed to have no right to stay will help get it down.
Zeuhl - i would normally enter into a discussion with you and answer your questions. However, while you still adopt your customary acidic and aggressive attitude I will ignore your retorts as simply deranged ramblings.
Diddums sir.prize

Has the word 'guff' upset you?

Instead of weaselling out of a debate why not simply admit it's not 'won't'

It's can't
