ah, etymological grounds... "matrimony" contains the root word "matr", which means mother. So if the wife doesn't have a child, it's not a marriage. On etymological grounds.

I see the bigots are out again. Why the hell shouldnt they marry? not all people that marry want children, does that mean they cant marry? Atheist dont believe in God, or "Holy" Matrimony, cant they marry? what about those too old to have children, should they not marry?

I don't quite understand why there is this opposition to gay marriage. In Britain today, more and more people are not getting married or having a Civil Partnership, instead just living together, and having illegitimate children.

I don't have a problem with that, as long as the relationship is stable. But when adults split up it can and often does cause sadness and problems for the children involved.

Given that so few people are getting married, you would have thought that more people wanting to, gay or not, would be a good thing. But it seems that the bigotry and discrimination that gay people still face in Britain today is more important to many people.

Why can't people just mind their own business ? If people want to get married, let them ! Its not as if they want to marry their dogs or their horses is it ?
